Arsenal winger Eberechi Eze (27) officially joined the Gunners, reportedly after personally calling manager Mikel Arteta to express his desire to sign.
The announcement came ahead of Arsenal’s 5-0 victory over Leeds United in the 2025–26 Premier League second round, where new signing Viktor Yokeres scored twice, and Timber and Bukayo Saka also found the net.
Eze had begun the season with Crystal Palace but chose to return to his former club, Arsenal, despite negotiations with Tottenham. The move is expected to help fill gaps caused by injuries to key players like Kai Havertz.
Arteta commented on Eze’s signing:
"This shows how much he wanted to come to Arsenal. Players sometimes need to approach decisions transparently, even when it’s difficult. I’m glad we secured him and look forward to great moments together."
Last season, Eze played 43 matches for Crystal Palace, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists, contributing to the team’s FA Cup triumph. Known for his dribbling and playmaking skills, he offers versatility across multiple positions, including attacking midfield and both wings.
Arteta added:"He has his own charisma and knows how to use it correctly. We will find the best position for him, whether as an attacking midfielder or on the right or left."
Arsenal faces challenges with Martin Ødegaard and Saka sidelined due to injuries. Ødegaard suffered a shoulder injury, while Saka has a hamstring problem. Arteta noted that early-season injuries to key players highlight the importance of squad depth and management in maintaining performance levels.
